Main draw is waiting

Kevin Anderson and Rik de Voest are one match away from qualifying for the Australian Open. They are both playing 1st at 10 am Melbourne time tomorrow. Kevin plays Standler from Germany and Rik plays Malisse from Belgium. If Kevin qualifies it will be his 3rd straight year in the main draw.
The draw was done today by John McEnroe and Roger Federer has a very tough draw. He will faces Nikolay Davydenko in the quarterfinals. Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal are in the same side of the draw.
On the women's side there was no surprise but Justine Henin will be the dark horse because she is unseeded.
The South African doubles guys are training hard and they will only start playing on Tuesday. Jeff Coetzee is playing with Roger Wassen, Wesley Moodie with Michael Youzhny and Rik de Voest with Scott Lipsky.
The tournament director of the Australian Open is Craig Tiley and he is a South African. Craig has done a great job since he arrived in Australia in 2004. He was appointed as the Director of Player development and 8 months later he was asked to become the tournament director.
He has putt a great team together and the development of Australian players are in good hands.
Some interesting stats for you.
In the last 2 years the following has happened: Participation has jumped by 18%, $ 134 million was spent on tennis facilities, an increase of 27% in top level tournaments for aspiring players, coaches membership has grown to more than 2300 and have 5 world class academies. the junior world rankings are packed with up and coming Australians.
Great job Craig
